HIV/AIDS Prision Rehabilitation

HIV/AIDS is a serious health threat for prison population and present significant challenges. Worldwide the levels of HIV infection among prison population tend to be much higher than in the population outside the prisons. Most prisoners , eventually released will become integrated back into their local community .It is crucial that we are providing prisoners with the prevention, care, treatment, and support for HIV/AIDS that is equivalent tot that available to people in the community outside of prison.

Project Hope for Africa has sought to make up for the lack of prison HIV/Aids education and care, by providing balanced meals, counseling and education for HIV positive inmates. We realize that most conditions are not ideal for HIV-positive individuals to live healthy lives, and how impetrative a nutritious diet and an adequate environment, is fundamental to the success of ARV treatment. Working with the Ministry of Health we train prison population councilors to hold HIV/AIDS counseling lectures and education sessions to the entire prison population.
