Youth continue to be at the center of the HIV epidemic; they are the most affected and infected population. Worldwide, the impact on this group is substantial with half of all new cases of HIV being reported in youth. There are approximately 10 million cases of youth living with HIV globally with the majority living in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Project Hope for Africa has formed a coalition of young positives sharing their hopeful message that living with HIV/AIDS no longer has to be a death sentence, and providing that youth infected can lead positive and successful lives.
These HIV positive youth are ready and willing to support each other through what may be the most difficult times in their lives. We realize how extraordinary these kids are and believe that once you face HIV/AIDS, there is little you can't achieve. The objective of this unique project is to improve the quality of life for HIV positive youth, while providing reproductive health education, psychosocial support and assistance with medical treatment. Our young positives have become peer educators and assisted PHA in creating new innovative ways to help link young people into care or get them educated about HIV/AIDS.
